Getting To Know Michael

Hi there! My name is Michael Abbott, and I recently began my career as a TECHniques Center (TC) Counselor early in August 2014. I am very excited to be helping students build tools and reach their goals through the experiences, trainings, and techniques that I have learned. I hope to further the success of the TECHniques Center through the people I serve. Earlier this year, in May 2014, I graduated with my second Master’s degree. I currently have one in Psychology and the other in Personal Financial Planning, both from Texas Tech University (TTU). I am a veteran of the United States Army where I served for 6 years, including a tour in Iraq lasting longer than one year. I earned my bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University (OSU) in Sociology. Following graduation from OSU, I spent time as an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher in South Korea, where I also became a certified scuba diver. After returning to the states I spent a year as a substance abuse counselor for adolescent males. During my time as a graduate student I taught classes in Psychology face-to-face and in Personal Finance face-to-face and online. In my spare time I enjoy many forms of entertainment such as watching/playing most sports, watching movies, and reading for leisure. I also enjoy sharing past experiences with others as well as making new ones. I can’t wait to get to know everyone better!

Welcome to the TECHniques Center, Michael! We are honored and excited to have you as part of our staff!
